What this check can and cannot say

  • A certificate names one builder and one site.It must match the builder on your contract. A certificate for another builder at your address is a question to ask before paying.
  • No certificate on record is not proof there is none.We hold certificates read from the official HBC Check register for the builders we have checked. Ask the builder for the certificate and confirm it on HBC Check.
  • No payment before cover.For NSW residential work over A$20,000, the builder must give you the certificate before asking for any payment.
